Playing hurt
In this week’s newsletter, Stephen O’Grady, in a Father’s day ode to his Dad, discussed the nuance between playing “hurt” and “injured.” My own Father was a notorious hard worker. My Dad never had it easy, but I have a vision of him on his John Deere hours after having been released from the ICU with complications from his cancer treatment.
It is also reminder that conditions are rarely ideal. Even elite athletes play hurt. You have to do the best you can with facilities you have. Everybody else is doing the same whether it is obvious or not. I have to ask myself, am I doing the best I can with the capabilities and resources I have? I can do better. And I will. I will play hurt.
Miss you Dad.
